Dresden, Germany; Cambridge, UK – 3rd September 2007 - Plastic Logic announced today the appointment of Konrad Herre as Vice President, Manufacturing for Dresden operations. Mr. Herre will be responsible for the Plastic Logic team in Dresden and oversee the extensive ramp-up, as well as the subsequent production process in the Dresden fab, including business partnerships. Mr. Herre’s appointment marks a decisive step in the intensive build up of Plastic Logic’s German subsidiary. Following the laying of the foundation stone in May and last month’s topping-out ceremony, the construction of the production facilities is well on the way to completion in December of this year.

In this role, Mr. Hermann will look after quality assurance and management for all of Plastic Logic's display module operations. Whilst he will be based in Dresden, Mr. Hermann’s responsibilities span Plastic Logic's Cambridge and Dresden locations. He joins the team at an important time in the company’s growth. Following the topping-out ceremony last month, Plastic Logic is well on schedule to begin with production in the middle of next year.

World's first series production of electronic paper displays to be in Dresden
Production to start with 140 workers in 2008
Dresden, Europe's leading research and microelectronics location, has once more won the day in global competition between top locations. Its latest success: the British company Plastic Logic Limited, a spin-out from Cambridge University, is currently building a new production site for a total of 96 million euro between the AMD microchip fab and Dresden airport. From 2008, a new generation of flexible displays, known as "electronic paper displays" (e-paper displays) will be produced in series at the factory; a global first.
